Out of Province Inspections

Most vehicles needing registration that are coming from outside of Alberta must have an out of province inspection done on them. These inspections first require an inspection request form that can be purchased at the Registry and then taken to one of the Approved Inspection Locations in Alberta. To purchase this form you would need your photo ID and either your out of province registration or bill of sale.

There are some vehicles that may be exempt from this inspection as long as one of the following conditions are met:

1) If a vehicle is coming to Alberta from Manitoba, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan and:

2) If the vehicle has been inspected within the last 90 days in either British Columbia or Saskatchewan and:

3) The vehicle is brand new and purchased within the last 90 days in a Canadian jurisdiction:

4) The vehicle is brand new and purchased in the United States:

5) If the vehicle has a GVW over 11,794 kg the Out Of Province Vehicle Inspection is NOT required. However a Commercial Vehicle Inspection will be required in its place.

Fee = $9.00 (incl GST)
